In April SCFD held their first competition for 2011. The weather forecast did not look good, but we didn’t get a drop of rain once the trial had started. Thanks to everyone who came early to help set up, to everyone who donated salads and prizes, and to all who helped scribe and marshal. A special thank you also needs to go out to the newer members who came down especially to help. But if you missed out in April don’t despair, SCFD has two more competitions coming up. There is a competition on the 23rd of July and our very first Beginner’s competition on the 27th August. Now if that isn’t enough for you SCFD has one more very special event coming up and that is the Cross Country on the 13th and 14th of August at Woodford. This has many events to keep every dog and their owner busy, including the Cross Country, Canine Disc (Frisbee), Rally O, 24 Weave Poles, Barrel Racing (with dogs not horses), and some jumping events. Camping is available and there will be a party on the Saturday night celebrating SCFD’s 15th Anniversary. So book all these dates in your calendar now!

SCFD held their first Canine Disc (Frisbee) training in May. This will continue on the 2nd Thursday of every month starting from 6:30pm. No experience is required and dogs of any level are invited to attend. It is great fun and both the dogs and owners have a great time. So if you haven’t already, come on down, get a Frisbee, and give it a go. SCFD was also lucky enough to have a guest instructor, Harriet Harding, from England come down to take some classes. She has taught us many new techniques, which some have already put into practice successfully at competitions. It’s not every day that someone from England comes out to Elimbah to teach agility, so it was very exciting for SCFD.
